Cannot work out how to create a full width footer?

Post By:user_4295 | Reply

Hi all,

I have read quite a few posts about moving the footer div out of the container div and then changing the css etc. I have made changes, but everything I have tried does not work. The posts are quite old and it seems the OC files have changed since then too. I am using with default theme.

I want a strip of colour across the full width of the footer by using a tall, thin png image that tiles across the bottom of the site.

Thanks in advance for any help :)

Havent done it for a while, long before but if I remember rightly.

Move footer div outside container, but wrap it round a new div, then style the new div in the stylesheet. You should get a full width footer that way.

in my case, it worked. Check on the image below.

Good Luck

Code: Select all

Thank you SXGuy, I read that sort of thing in the existing threads but as a non-coder it's still as clear as mud ;)

Thank you IP_CAM as well :)

I forgot to say that I want the current footer columns to stay where they are. They would then get their colour from a tiled tiled image.

In my header I have added

Code: Select all
background: #ffffff url('../image/bg.png') repeat-x;
to the stylesheet and this gives me a header that looks full width.

I tried adding similar to
Code: Select all
#footer {
line 1724 but nothing changed.

I want a similar effect across the bottom of the site as I have at the top i.e. a band of colour that covers the full width of the screen.

So I could do with someone telling me what code to add to the stylesheet if possible :)
